The BEST Games for Your Virtual Baby Shower

Friday, September 4, 2020
Virtual Baby Showers are IN (or maybe just necessary in 2020). Either way, you don't want a chatroom full of guests who are completely disinterested in what's happening during your party.

The answer: Digital Baby Shower GAMES.

This is a game we played in person during my baby shower, but it is ABSOLUTELY adaptable for online use.

Keep ready for easy to follow steps and tips for vote collection, winner selection, AND easy to mail out prizes!

Baby Relay!

This game is SO exciting for everyone involved and will work perfectly virtually!

For this game, you'll need:

  • Google Forms
  • Baby dolls (stuffed animals work too!)
  • Diapers
  • Baby bottles (drink of choice)

In front of their cameras, preselected guests participating in this game should have a doll, diaper, and baby bottle.

Daddy, Grandpas, and Uncle-to-be all competed in our Baby Relay. I love the idea of a co-ed shower, but this game can absolutely be played no matter who is participating. It's a blast for all involved!! (click HERE to read all about it!).

The players' job? Be the first to put the diaper on their doll AND finish the contents of the bottle.

Guests who select the winner prior to the start of the game are entered into a raffle to win a prize. Easy!

For added suspense, have guests pick a player's name BEFORE they know the task.

While this isn't absolutely necessary, in my opinion, it adds a bit more excitement as people root for someone they may not know (or maybe they do know them and immediately regret choosing that person as their victor!). Either way, this game is a blast!

How To Make Your Online Form:

Before announcing the rules, send out a Google Form to your guests that looks something like this:

I highly recommend asking guests to share their google emails (@gmail.com) with you when they RSVP. This will just make things so much simpler for you during the party.

To create the Google Form, be sure REQUIRE that everyone includes their name with their vote. This is essential! Otherwise, you'll have to go by their email addresses, which is much more complicated. This can be done using the short answer question feature like this...

Next, create a drop-down question, replacing option choices with the names of the players in the relay.

Finally, share the link. That's all!

Choosing Winners

If you have a digital invitation, your Google Form link could be sent out right on the invitation or initial email. This will allow you to set up your raffle before the party even begins.

You could have the ol' name-in-a-hat raffle OR you can use this AWESOME online too: Random Name Picker.

There are so many free versions of this, but I used to use this website (no affiliation) in my classroom all the time and it was a lifesaver! Why not keep the digital vibe going with a no-pressure name chooser, right?

It's simple! Just enter the names you want on each while. The great thing about using a Google Form to collect votes is that now you'll just have to copy and paste the names onto your chosen name picker. SO SIMPLE. I just love it!

During my shower, we chose three winners for this game, but that's entirely your call. Remember to share your screen with guests so that they can eagerly watch the wheel spin with you. A little Las Vegas excitement never hurts!

Looking for some simple prizes that can be mailed to your winning guests?

Try these!

  • a $5 gift card
  • a lottery scratch card
  • a packet of seeds (baby's breath flowers)
  • a friendship bracelet or small costume jewelry item
  • a restaurant or wine voucher
  • a bookmark
  • a fridge magnet
  • a mini-calendar
  • small candies

Good luck! I would LOVE to hear all about your virtual party and what your guests thought of this game. Be sure to leave a comment below.

Have fun!
