Super Simple Homemade Crafting Dough!

Friday, February 12, 2021
Looking for an easy craft to try with your kids as the snow takes over? Dough crafts are fun, easy, and made with products you probably already have in your kitchen. So preheat that oven (to 175 degrees Fahrenheit) and pull out the paints! You'll be rollin' in the dough with the kiddos in no time!

A Little 'Love'ly Project

My almost 1-year old daughter got in on the fun this year for a little Valentine's Day love.

Today, we made these adorable thumbprint crafts for her grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Mommy and Daddy will likely keep one too, of course. What a beautiful little keepsake. 💕

Ingredients:

1/4 cup corn starch
1/2 cup baking soda
6 tablespoons water

(This recipe made enough for 8 circular creations, a little bigger than 2 inches in diameter.)

Directions

1. In a medium-sized pot over medium heat, stir corn starch, baking soda, and water together for a couple of minutes. The milky consistency will begin to come together into a mashed-potato looking ball.

2. Remove from heat and transfer the dough to a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to cool.

3. Once cooled, roll out your dough and make your creations!

  • Be sure not to flatten the dough so thinly that it's too delicate to work with.

  • If you'd like to make an ornament or keychain, be sure to poke a small hole at the top of your dough craft. A straw works really well for this!

4. Place your designed dough on a baking pan covered with parchment paper. Bake in the oven for 1 hour, flipping halfway through, at 175 degrees Fahrenheit.

5. Allow cooling. Then they're ready to be painted!

  • If you're looking to write on your dough creations, a Sharpie pen works best.

That's all! I hope you love this simple and quick craft as much as I do!

Happy crafting!💗
