The Food Journey Begins
I eat my cereal without milk every morning. It's always one of my go-to fun facts for those "One interesting thing about me is.." icebreaker games bosses make you do in meetings. When I tell people this, they're either 100% in agreement or they're borderline offended.
There's only one way to eat cereal and it's WITH milk!
All this to say it makes me wonder what kind of eater my baby will be. Will she explore new flavors or stick only to the classics? Will she prefer a crunch or a squish? Will she invent her own way of eating things?
Here we are at the start of month four, and my pediatrician has officially recommended introducing solids.
I am a mix of emotions.
My little baby is growing so quickly! Time needs to stand still. But like a bowl of milk-soaked Cheerios, you only have a little time to gobble up as much as you can before the moment begins to crumble away.
Still, I'm BEYOND excited for her to start trying different foods with a variety of flavors and textures. Based on how much she seems to enjoy that foul smelling vitamin she has every day, I'm thinking new and unique tastes are going to be right up this kid's alley. Time will tell!
I have a few things to consider now that this trial and error section of parenting is about to begin (as if everything about parenting wasn't already a game of trial and error) ...
1. Jarred, fresh, or frozen fruits?
2. Should it all be organic?
3. Feeding schedules?
4. Baby Lead Weaning?
5. How does this all fit in with breastfeeding?
Check back here for more as my baby and I navigate this adventure together. I can't wait to share this unknown process with you! Share your experiences and questions in the comment box below. I'd love to hear from you!
This is sure to be a banana-smudged, tasty, and messy journey, but I'm ready for it! Just be sure to hold the milk, please.
